Area code 907 is the telephone area code for the U.S. state of Alaska, except for a small area near the border with Canada. It covers the entire state, which is the largest and most sparsely populated in the country.
The area code was created in 1957 and has not been split or overlaid since then. It is one of the few remaining area codes that serve an entire state.

The 907 area code in Alaska covers multiple time zones. Most of the state is under Alaska Standard Time (AKST), which is nine hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC-9). During daylight saving time (DST), most of the state switches to Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT), which is eight hours behind UTC (UTC-8).
However, some parts of the state closer to Hawaii or the International Date Line use Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HAST), which is ten hours behind UTC (UTC-10). Some areas in the 907 area code do not observe DST at all, including most of the Aleutian Islands west of 169°30′W longitude and some parts of Southeast Alaska near the border with British Columbia.

The 907 area code was created in 1957 to simplify long-distance dialing and routing of calls in Alaska. It has never been split or overlaid with another area code due to Alaska’s low population density and slow growth rate. The 907 area code is not projected to be exhausted until after 2049.
However, starting from October 24, 2021, callers in Alaska will need to dial ten digits for all local calls within the 907 area code due to a new nationwide three-digit number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This change will not affect the cost or quality of local calls within Alaska, but callers may need to update their contact lists, devices, and systems.
